Constable manage to foil loot attempt of his carbine in Saharanpur

When chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and his officials were burning mid-night oil to give people friendly police to the people, a constable, who managed to foil loot attempt of his carbine in Saharanpur, has now knocked the door of social activists as well as his bosses just to get his FIR registered as well to get the culprits punished.

Interestingly, just few days, district police chief of Saharanpur, Rajesh Pandey, opened an Whatsapp account of the Saharanpur police and claimed that who so ever need his help, could update his grievance on that account and he would get the necessary action taken. However, now his own junior colleague fails to find justice from him. What is more serious is that right under the nose of the Pandey, a local station house officer bailed out the criminals in his knowledge but so far he did not took even pain to get the matter probed to find out to the truth.

Giving details of above cops-criminal nexus, social activist, Nutan Thakur, who demanded action in the matter claimed that on September 6 last, Constable Gaurav Kumar, attached with the Saharanpur Reserve Police lines, was going back to his room after his official duty when around 11:50 pm, few unknown assailants attacked him and tried to snatch his official Carbine. She claimed that Gaurav, who foiled the loot attempt also managed to note down the motorcycle number (UP11R-6166) of one of the assailants and immediately informed about it to Police control room at number 100. He also immediately went to Sadar police station and gave a written complaint but the police did not register his FIR. later, the assailants were identified and they were brought to the police station on 16 September where Gauarv was also called. However, Bijendra Singh Yadav, station house officer of Kotwali (Sadar)police station, forced Gaurav to compromise with the criminals, despite the constable demanding that he wanted action in the matter, particularly as number of incidents were reported in western UP in which criminals were targeting `Khakhi’ so stern action would sent strong message amongst the criminals.

Thakur claimed that when the inspector refused to register a FIR and senior officers in Saharanpur, also not took cognizance of the matter even after the entire matter has been brought to their knowledge, hapless constable contacted her and disclosed the entire happing and sought her help. She claimed that after learning of the matter, she personally talked to Inspector, Sadar who said very casually that when the constable was returning back, he saw a few persons creating nuisance in drunken state. When the constable tried to control them, these persons abused and misbehaved with him, after which the matter has been subsided after proper talks between the two parties.

When asked again, Gauarv clearly said that though he had been called in the police station but he had never agreed for any compromise while the Inspector had been unilaterally pressurizing him to get the matter over, saying that pursuing the matter would lead Gaurav to many personal hardships. Thakur said that she had written to DGP, Al Banerjee, seeking not only registration of FIR but also seeking strict action against the policemen responsible for the inaction so far, so that a proper message goes all over the State.
