Upset with the behaviour of his seniors and not getting leave, a police constable struck panic in Reserve Police lines at Bulundhshar. He reportedly opened indiscriminate fire killing two of the colleagues and injuring one other before ending his own life. The sensational incident took place on Monday night. Senior police officers later rushed to the spot and claimed to have made primarily investigation. However, to hush up the matter they so far said to have questioned the family of the constable who opened fire in order to extract the reason which forced the cops to go ahead with the extreme action.
Reports said that constable, Saurabh Tyagi, attached with the Reserve Police lines in Bulundshahr was very depressed after his seniors, the duty munshi (constable clerk) and other staff of the Reserve Inspector (RI) harassed him and always take tough duty from him just as he reportedly not greased the palms of the cops. Sources said that not only this, for the last few days, they also refused to give him leave which further upsets him. About a week back, Saurabh also had heated arguments with his seniors over the issue.
The matter took an ugly turn on Monday night when agitated with the treatment, Saurabh opened fire with his .303 service rifle gunning down Manoj Yadav, the clerk of the RI. later he opened fire on other staff of the RI in which head Constable Promotee, Chandra Pal and Manveer were critically injured. later he fired at himself and committed suicide. The staff and other police personnel present at Reserve Police lines rushed in panic after hearing the gun shots. They shifted both the injured cops to District Hospital where one of them was reportedly pronounced dead upon arrival while another one was referred to Gautambudhnagar after the doctors found his condition very `critical’.
Reports said that senior officers initially searched the uniform and other belongings of Saurabh hoping that the cop might have written some suicide note. However, later they went and quizzed his family members who confirmed that the victim was upset as he was not getting leave and that he was also subject to harassment by taking tough duties just as he failed to meet out `demand’ of the RI’s staff. A case was registered in this regard and the bodies were sent for post-mortem examination.
