Congress will move a disqualification petition against its MlC Dinesh Pratap Singh who on Saturday joined BJP in a rally addressed by party’s national president Amit Shah and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Congress MlC Deepak Singh said here on Sunday that the party will move a petition before the chairman of the legislative Council seeking disqualification of Singh.

Dinesh Pratap Singh was leader of the Congress legislature Party in Vidhan Parishad.

“In a day or two, we will submit the petition before the Council chairperson and seek his directive,” Deepak Singh said.

Dinesh Pratap Singh, the leader of the Congress in the Upper House along with his district panchayat chairman Awadhesh Singh, his younger brother joined the BJP in presence of saffron party chief Amit Shah and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

However, surprisingly, their another brother , the Congress MlA from Harchandpur in Rae Bareli did not join the BJP though speculations was that he too could jopin the party.

Meanwhile, in Rae Bareli, the Congressmen distributed sweets after Dinesh Pratap Singh quit the party. Rae Bareli Congress district president V K Shukla  said that the party had given Mr Dinesh Pratap Singh and his family everything but they have backstabbed.

“ People of Rae Bareli will teach them a lesson now,” he said.

Singh has been elected from Rae Bareli local body constituency and his term expires on April 7, 2022.
