Congress geared up come on roads to protest against the Bharatiya Janta Party led Central Government as well as against the wrong-doings of the State government, during their state-wide agitation on Wednesday. The Party had decided to take help of cartoons to highlight the “failures” of the BJP-led NDA government at the Centre and Samajwadi Party government in the State during its proposed agitation.

“To highlight the failures of the NDA government including its anti-farmer policies, going back on its promise to bring back black money and others, help of cartoons will be taken during its ‘kisan bachao, bhrashtachar-mitao, vada-nibhao’ agitation on July 22”, chairman of Uttar Pradesh Congress communications department, Satyadev Tripathi revealed here on Tuesday. He also confirmed that both All India Congress Committee General Secretary, Madhusudan Mistri, who is incharge of the Party affairs here in UP and State President, Nirmal Khatri, would lead the protest.

He said that they would take out procession from Jyotiba Phule Park in Chowk till Ravindralya through Saheed Smarak, Kaiserbagh Crossing, Bapu Bhawan, and Burlington Crossings on Wednesday. He said that the cartoons for the purpose have been selected from those which are popular on the social media with stinging comments on the caricature of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Party will also use cartoons of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav to stress on the failures of the state government, Tripathi said, adding that issues like power tariff hike, non-payment of sugarcane dues and prevailing jungle raj will be highlighted.

It may be mentioned here that earlier State President, Nirmal Khatri denied that they will also protest against State government failure but now the Congress finally decided to go against both the government under the policy of hitting two birds with one stone. During the agitation, effigies of the prime minister will be burnt at the district headquarters, cities and panchayat levels, Tripathi said.  leaders have been already asked to take rounds of all the districts and make preparations and ensure that the agitation would be successful, Tripathi added.
