Congress to carry on fight

Motivated with success of kisan rally in New Delhi organsied to protest National Democratic Alliance (NDA) move to bring in new law on land Acquisition, and with their morale also at their top after finding ‘Yuvraj’ leading the Party from the front now both in the Parliament and outside, the Congress leaders here in Uttar Pradesh are planning to carry on the fight further on the farmers issue, at least till the next Assembly elections. Besides, they now also see Rahul Gandhi as the new ‘Farmers leader’, of the country after former prime minister Charan Singh.

“India had Chowdhary Charan Singh as the first farmers leader in the country who always fought for justice of the food grain cultivators and now it seems to be Rahul Gandhi, who is truly concerned with the issues related to farmers, and sees them as the back bone of Indian economy”, claimed a senior Congress leader who remained minister in the State government more than three decades back and was also involved in socialist movement with great socialist leader Ram Manohar lohia. He said that the Congress leadership right from the first prime minister, Pandit Jawahar lal Nehru till Manmohan Singh had always worked for welfare of the farmers and even former prime minister, late lal Bhadhur Shastri had given RsJai Jawan Jai Kisan’ slogan to this country making it clear that India could not survive or feel secure in absence of both.

He claimed that even in ten years of United Progressive Alliance Government, led by Manmohan Singh, various welfare schemes for the farmers has been introduced but the real concerned towards the RsKisan’ has been promoted due active involvement of Rahul Gandhi. RsRsWhether it was the issue of farmers of Bundelkhand who were facing drought like situation for past several years forcing many of them to commit suicide, or poor monsoon and other natural calamity hitting the farmers in the East, or even the land acquisition problem mostly faced by farmers of Western UP, it was Rahul Gandhi who took the fight from the front leading the UPA government to release Bundelkhand package, waiving of interest on loans to farmers or lastly introduction of land Acquisition Bill etc”, the leader asserted while posing Rahul as the new leader of the farmers in the country.

“From taking dinner with the poors in their huts, sitting with farmers in their agitation in Bhatta Parsaul leading even to his arrest by the then state government or taking over 100 kilometers of march leading to introduction of new law on land acquisition, Rahul Gandhi was always there to fight for the rights of the farmers”, claimed another senior Congress leader and general secretary of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), Deepak Singh.

Singh, hailing from Amethi and very close to Gandhi family further said that media, particularly social media mostly tried to distort the image of Rahul Gandhi, but finally it was Rahul Gandhi once again who take the fight of the farmers against the move of the Narendra Modi led National Democratic Alliance government to change the land acquisition law, just to facilitate a bunch of corporate houses facilitating them to make rich ‘land bank’ at the cost of livelihood of more than 60 percent of the country’s population which is still dependant on farming.

“Where will this population go to cultivate food grains if they had no land with themIJ”, is the biggest question faced by this country at present and Congressmen across the country would stand like a rock behind Rahul Gandhi in his fight against UPA government’s move to introduce new land Acquisition Bill, he added. He claimed that the first round of Congress agitation against NDA government is completed with last Sunday’s Kisan rally in New Delhi but now senior leaders of the UPCC would chalk out strategy in the next Week to carry on this fight till the NDA government announced to withdraw their move on introducing new law to acquire farmer’s land.
