Congress slams govt over non-utilisation of development funds

Uttar Pradesh Congress on Friday said that non-coordination between the Centre and the state government had resulted in non-utilisation of development funds.

“The Yogi Adityanath government is not able to spend the money given by the Central government for various items and departments. The UP government has not been able to spend Rs 700 crore given for the performance grant to be spent on development works of panchayats in the last six years, for which even the Central government is annoyed,” alleged UP Congress Committee spokesman Sanjay Singh here on Friday.

“Earlier, due to non-spending of the amount fixed for the PWD, it was withdrawn by the Central government,” he said, adding that the same had happened with many other departments.

The UP Congress spokesperson said that there was a lack of coordination between the Central government and the UP government. “On the other hand, the officers are not able to do their work smoothly. In such a situation, how can the development of UP be expected from the government,” he questioned.

“Like the Narendra Modi government, the Yogi Adityanath government is also running a personal agenda instead of development of the people and the state. Inflation, unemployment, farmers’ income, restoration of the old pension scheme for government employees are the main issues, but through the media, the double-engine government is busy trying to win elections by confusing the people by running a personal agenda,” the UP Congress spokesman alleged.
