Congress red-faced over BJP flags in Lucknow office

Published on:

Much to the embarrassment of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, a video showing several flags of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) lying in the office of Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee went viral on social media on Saturday.

The video was uploaded by expelled Congress leader Zeeshan Haider but even after more than 24-hours, the UPCC officials issued no clarification and there was no call for any disciplinary action against those party leaders and staffers who were seen standing in the office where the flags were spread on tables.

Haider claimed that he was shocked  to see the video as he could not understand for what purpose the BJP flags were kept in the Congress state headquarters, and that too in presence of leaders and staff.

“What is more surprising is that the central leaders, including Priyanka Gandhi, AICC general secretary, and incharge of UPCC affairs, were tigh-tlipped. They have issued no statement and taken no action,” he said.

A UPCC office-bearer, on the condition of anonymity, claimed that the matter was investigated but it was an eyewash as everyone knew that many leaders with Communist or RSS background were ruling the roost and that the presence of BJP flags in large numbers in the Congress office was no surprise.
