After state capital and Varanasi, Congress leaders once again took road and staged a massive demonstration in Meerut on Tuesday demanding immediate implementation of Food Security Act as well as to look all other demands of the farmers. They also raised their voice against government’s inaction to deal with the Muzaffarnagar riot victims.
``State government is incompetent and is unable to perform their duties on all front”, alleged General Secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC), Madhusudan Mistri who is also incharge of the Party affairs here in UP. Mistri who led the party’s demonstration at Gymkhana ground in Meerut on Tuesday, said that on one hand the Government failed to forward any help for the riot victims in Muzaffarnagar and on the other hand the people had to face the lawlessness and muscle power of the Samajwadi Party goons. He said that the farmers are the worst sufferers under the Government and the prime example of it was trouble faced by cane farmers as well as producers of paddy crop.
Taking on Samajwadi Party Government, president of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) Nirmal Khatri alleged that Akhilesh and his government is not implementing food security act just as they not wanted to forward the benefit to farmers and poors. He said that series of communal violence speaks of the law and order situation in the State and added that people are already facing the heat of Gonda and criminal elements within the Samajwadi Party. He said that both Mulayam Singh Yadav and Akhilesh are just throwing dust in the eyes of public by giving threat to SP activists to remain in discipline. ``If they are really concerned with the safety and security of the people particularly from goons of the SP than the Party supremo should have expelled such elements till now”, Khatri said while taking on Mulayam and Akhilesh Yadav.
Congress president said that when riots victims were dying of cold, entire Samajwadi Party government is on fun mood. ``While Akhilesh Yadav and his cabinet is enjoying Bollywood actresses dances in Saifai, a senior cabinet minister who claimed himself to be well-wisher of Muslims had not even visit Muzaffarnagar but instead went abroad to enjoy in the name of educational tour”, alleged Khatri. UPCC chief threatened State government that Congress activists would continue to stage dharna across the state until the Food Security Act will be implemented in the State.
later Congress activists also tried to proceed towards Meerut Commissioners’s office and ghearo it but they were forcibly stopped by the police. Besides Mistri and Khatri, the other prominent leader who participated in the dharna are union minister for coal, Shree Prakash Jaiswal, Chairman of SC Commission, Pl Punia, MPs-Raj Babbar, Kamal Commando, ClP leader Pradeep Mathur, former state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi and several others MlAs and senior leaders.
