Senior leaders of Congress met here on Tuesday to discuss a strategy to fight the coming panchayat polls in Uttar Pradesh with more vigour and enthusiasm. They decided to go to the voter with the failures of the Bharatiya Janata Party government and inform them how the ruling party failed to control the rising fuel prices, inflation and even cleared three black farm laws.
The Congress leaders felt the panchayat polls would eventually set the momentum in favour of the grand old party for the 2022  UP assembly elections.
"We will go the public and tell them about how Narendra Modi duped them in the name of achhe din and instead gave them hosts of problems through rising fuel prices, inflation, rising crime, by introducing three black farm laws, not paying the arrears of sugarcane farmers etc.," said Congress leader in UP Legislative Council, Deepak Singh.
Singh along with a host of other senior leaders including Pramod Tewari, Ajay Kumar Lallu, Aradhana Mishra `Mona' attended a high level meeting to discuss how to contest the panchayat elections with full strength.
Singh said here on Tuesday that the Congress would contest all the seats and set the momentum for revival of the party in this biggest state of the country by winning maximum numbers of seats. "The panchayat polls will herald a new beginning for the party in Uttar Pradesh," Singh added.
The party had started to prepare the ground for the coming panchayat elections and later the assembly polls in 2022, when senior leaders of the party camped in 8,000 village panchayats of the state last January. They went there on the directions of Congress Priyanka Gandhi Vadra who instructed them to interact with the ground level workers and strengthen the party up to booth level in the state. One Congress leader was given responsibility of one district to strengthen the party.
"We aimed to strengthen our nyaya panchayat organisations by involving influential people active at the local level in the organisation of nyaya panchayat,. UP Congress President Ajay Kumar Lallu said soon after completion of the task. "We raised issues like unemployment, problems of farmers, collapsed law and order and corruption among the public. By fighting for the solution of other problems of the village and the poor, by informing the people of the failures of the Modi-Yogi government, we will also fight the upcoming panchayat elections very strongly," Lallu added.
"In the coming days, in all 60,000 gram sabhas of the state, the workers will also work to lay a strong foundation for an active organisation of the Congress," he added.
The party is presently organising training camps for block level workers in Gorakhpur to galvanise and inform them about how to go to the people and expose the anti-people decisions of the BJP government.
Besides, the party, under the leadership of Priyanka Gandhi Vadra also started holding 'kisan panchayats' and 'khaat sabhas' to reach out to farmers and other aggrieved persons who were opposing the new farm laws introduced by the Narendra Modi led government at the Centre.
In December last also, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra had held discussions with the district and city in-charges of the UP Congress Committee through video conferencing to draw a strategy. She also completed the task of forming a party organisation in 823 blocks in the state.
