Congress expresses dissatisfaction over SAP for sugarcane

Published on:

The Congress has expressed dissatisfaction over State Advisory Price (SAP) for sugarcane announced by the state government saying that price was insufficient and a big joke for the farmers.

“This Government is playing with sentiments of farmers though it claims itself to be the big savior. The fact is anger is brewing among the farmers because of anti-farmers’ policies of the Yogi government,” senior Congress leader Ramendra Janwaar  said in a statement issued here on Sunday.

He said that in very press conference CM talks about waiver of crop loan. But this a big joke. The farmers have not got the relief they deserve instead BJP ministers and CM have got publicity as if the the government has chanhed the fortune of the farmers, Janwar said.

“What happened in the state capital on Saturday should be an eye opener for the government. Farmers set sugar cane afire against government’s newly announced SAP. After many years farmers have staged protest in the state capital. The farmers are demanding Rs 450 as cane price and government’s offer of Rs 325 per quintal is just peanuts,” the Congress leader said.

He said BJP leadership talks about doubling the income of farmers. How can they do it. The BJP Governments at centre and state does not have a plan. “Yogi government should revise its SAP otherwise Congress will be forced to join farmers’ stir,” he threatened.
