The Congress demanded the resignation of Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav charging him of failing to stepm rampant corruption in the government and allowing `goonda raj’ as was admitted by SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav.
``On Independence Day, when the country is celebrating freedom, Mulayam Singh seems to have been so inspired that he admitted that corruption is rampant in his son’s Chief Ministership and how goonda raj was prevailing leading to land grabbing in his native town,” pointed out Congress MlC Deepak Singh reacting to Mulayam’s statement during Independence Day function on Monday.
“The SP chief’s confessional statement warrants that Akhilesh Yadav had no moral right to continue in office and he should step down from the CM’s post immediately,” said he.
Singh further attacked the double face of the SP saying, ``The drama of Yadav family over the merger of Qaumi Ekta Dal (QED) has been exposed as the don-turned-politician Mokhtar Ansari’s flock is set to rejoin the SP in coming days,” claimed Singh.
TheCongress MlC said that if the SP chief still goes ahead with with the pan of including of QED into the SP, then Akhilesh Yadav should resign to prove a point.
Barely two months after calling off the merger with QED, the SP appeared set to embrace Ansari’s outfitto get the equations right ahead of the 2017 Assembly polls. That all was not well within the Yadav clan over the merger became evident when for Shivpal Yadav announced the merger in June 21 which was shot off by a meeting of SP parliamentary only four days later. as CM Akhilesh Yadav wanted to maintain a distance from tainted leaders. Only twodays back, Shiv Pal jas threatened to resign quoting high-handedness by officials and party functionaries.
Speaking on the simmering discord among the Yadav first family Congress leader Virendra Madan said, ``The manner in which the members of Yadav clan were fighting to grab power is alarming for the state. Every one sees busy enjoying power and had least interest in ensuring welfare of the people or development of the state. What is more, the turmoil has resulted in law and order situation being ignored and rapant corruption in the government contiuing unabated.”
