Congress condemned the statement of journalist Dr Ved Pratap Vaidik on Kashmir and demanded to initiate proceedings against him after booking his for charges of sedation.

``The statement of Vaidik on Kashmir clearly amounts to waging war against the country and he should be booked for it and arrested”, demanded chairman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Media Cell, Satyadeo Tripathi, here on Tuesday evening. ``Kashmir always remained internal part of India and statement of Vaidik showed that how much he was influenced by most wanted terrorist, Hafiz Saeed after meeting him and it looks that he(Vaidik) was using his words on Kashmir”, added Tripathi saying that militants groups sponsored by a neighbouring country always wanted to create unrest in Kashmir and were engaged in militant activity and now Vaidik was just facilitating that war against the country which should be dealt with tough hands.

Meanwhile Congress and Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP)both condemned inaction of the police in taking action and said that only the insensitiveness of the law enforcing agencies had worsened the law and order situation in the State. Congress spokesman, Ashok Singh said that the Hathras incident once again exposed the insensitiveness of the police as well as prevailing jungle raj. ``One after another incident or rape and killing of victims and the cops sitting idle all showed that how the state had turned into a jungle raj”, alleged spokesman while demanding stern action against the culprits as well as against the cops who took no action despite of dying declaration of the victim.

State president of BJP, laxmikant Bajpai claimed that he has sent a 3-member probe team to Sikerdrarao to enquire the incident.  He alleged that the woman was burnt to death by the accused but on the pressure of the police, the family members of the victim admitted that she committed self immolation.” BJP will lend all support to the family members in punishing the guilty people,” Bajpai announced while criticizing SP government for taking no measures to improve the law and order situation in the State.
