Uttar Pradesh Congress once again made a move to revive the Dalit agenda of Rahul Gandhi so they tried to share the celebration of Congress MP from Amethi’s birthday with the downtrodden section of the society.
They hold a chaupal and organised community feast in a hamlet dominated by Dalits in Khasarwara locality of Mohanlalganj on Wednesday afternoon. State Congress president, Dr Nirmal Khatri, who left for New Delhi late on Wednesday afternoon earlier attended the function and assured the villagers that they will try to spread Rahul’s mission of sharing emotional movement with the Dalits and to try to do something for their upliftment. Interestingly former State president, Dr Rita Bhhuguna Joshi postponed the celebration on Rahul’s birthday in wake of tragedy in Uttrakhand. In a simple function, she congratulated Rahul by fecilitating 30 party workers for their outstanding work besides distributing clothes and other items to 100 poor persons.
In Khasarwara locality of Mohanlalganj, Dr Nirmal Khatri while addressing a chupal attended of local villagers mostly Dalits, claimed that Rahul Gandhi is working hard for the last 10-years to improve the condition of the down- trodden section of the society. Khatri said that the Party all India Vice-President, had spent many nights in Dalits hamlet and interacted with them just to find out their problems and the condition in which they are forced to live. State President said that following the above concern of Rahul Gandhi they decided to celebrate his birthday by sharing their views and learning the difficulties of poor persons by holding chupal with them. He also called on the workers that they had to fight hard to improve the living standard of Dalits and to fulfill the dreams of Rahul Gandhi who wanted to see smile on faces of every poor person.
Former State president, Rita Bahuguna, who cancelled celebration and organised a simple function while addressing the gathering said that Rahul Gandhi always worked for betterment of the poor hence scheme like National Rural Health Mission (to provide health services to poor), MGNAREGA (To provide guranteed employment to villagers, MID-DAY Meal scheme (To provide lunch to poor children going to school) etc has been taken up by the Central Government and more such schemes like Food Security Bill, to ensure that no poor should sleep with food will come up in the coming days. Rita Bahuguna also felicitated veteran Congress leader Swroop Kumar Bakshi on the occasion.
Meanwhile spokesman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) Maroof Khan claimed that Khatri and other Congress leaders organised a meeting to celebrate Rahul Khan’s birthday here at Party state head quarter on Wednesday morning. He said that besides congratulating Rahul Gandhi on the occasion, they highlighted the work taken up by the AICC vice-president and took oath that they will carry forward his mission under his guidance and will try to accomplice his mission to bring smile on faces of every poor. Many senior leaders were present on the occasion.
