Congress accused the ruling Samajwadi Party of crushing the democratic right of the people to stage protest against state government’s misdeeds and it’s anti-people decisions. They announced to stage a demonstration Rsdaman virodhi diwas’ at all the district head-quarters against the government brutal lathi charge on the Party workers and leaders during their protest on Monday.
RsRsRuling Party is making efforts to crush our voice to raise the matter concerning the people but we would not led down by such in-human act of the law enforcing forces and would come out with more power now to ensure justice to the common man by raising their voice”, claimed UP Congress Committee vice-president and chairman of the media committee Satyadeo Tripathi, while announcing the decision of the Party to organise RsDaman Virodhi Diwas’ on Wednesday.
Addressing media persons here on Tuesday evening, Tripathi said that during the protest, the Congress leaders will hold demonstration at district and city head-quarters and will hand over a memorandum addressed to the state governor to make his aware of the police brutality on peaceful agitation of the Congress. They will also demand strict action against the guilty police officials and to constitute a judicial probe by a sitting High Court judge.
Tripathi alleged that policemen in civil dress joined the Congress agitation and they threw stones on the policemen in uniform after which the Congress leaders were canned. He said that Congress will not succumbed to such undemocratic pressure of the State government and will stand up against all such anti-people act of the government.
Around 50 Congressmen were injured including AICC General secretary Madhusudan Mistri, UP Congress president Nirmal Khatri, Rajya Sabha member Raj Babbar, former minister Pradeep Jain Aditiya, senior leader Anu Tandon and others. Several party workers were also admitted to the hospital with broken hand and leg. It may be mentioned that State Congress had called for Vidhan Sabha gherao on Monday in protest against the deteriorating law and order and other anti-people acts of the Samajwadi Party government.
