Cong terms Modi as Actor

Published on:

The Congress termed Modi an ‘actor’ who successfully staged a `show’ and after being exposed, has roped in a real `actor’ to fool the public.

“Now a ‘big actor’ has been engaged when people have recognised Modi’s real face and started rejecting him,” asserted AICC general secretary and former Union minister Shakeel Ahmed without naming Amitabh Bachchan.

The megastar is engaged in promoting the Centre’s  ‘Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao’ drive.

Addressing newspersons in lucknow to highlight failures of the NDA government on its second anniversary, Ahmed said that the the Modi government has failed in every front with the people repenting their decision of supporting the BJP in 2014.

Defending his party on Augusta chopper deal, Ahmad said that it was the Congress which blacklisted the company after the previous Vajpayee government assented for the deal.

``The BJP blamed us for corruption. But I want to highlight that it was former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee who bent the rules to facilitate the deal with Augusta,” Ahmed charged.

He explained that as soon as the UPA government took over in 2004, it made amendments in the deal and clearly mentioned that no commission should be paid. “Once we were tipped off, we not only cancelled the deal but also ordered a high-level probe. In fact, an enquiry should be conducted against the previous BJP government at the Centre,” stressed the leader.

Ahmed also charged Modi of engaging in corruption. “The CAG report mentions that Narendra Modi had facilitated a benefit of Rs 40,000 crore to Adani Group, when he was Chief Minister of Gujarat. Not only this, Modi had claimed that the country would face no shortage of natural gas as Gujrat State Petroleum Corporation had located a huge reserve. However, more than Rs 19,78 crore have been spent since then but not a unit of gas could be found,” pointed out Ahmed. He sought to know where did the funds go and sought a high-level enquiry.

Ahmad accused the NDA government of blaming the Congress for impeding the GST Bill. “The bill was brought by Congress. We just asked to amend three rules to get it passed. But the BJP and Modi are not ready for it as it would harm the interests of the industrialists,” said the Congress leader.

Attacking the NDA’s foreign policy, Ahmad said,

“PM Modi has done nothing on this front and just been visting various nations. Ceasedire violations have gone up along  teh Indo-Pak border which speaks volumes about Modi’s commitment on safeguarding borders. The UPA has sidelined Pakistan from the international forum but Modi has brought it back,” he charged.

He also criticised Union Home minister Rajnath Singh’s stastement that intrusion by Chinese Army was by `default’ and not `by design’.

Ahmed said Modi’s punchline of ‘Acche Din’ and ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’ remained unattended and the masses continue to languish in misery.

When asked if Rahul Gandhi will take over the reins, Ahmed said, “Everyone wants Rahul to lead the party but it is up to him and Soniaji to decide.”
