Rs Rs No one including all the major Opposition Parties should do politics over food security bill as it was yet another pilot project of the Congress led United Progress Alliance at the Centre to ensure that no one should sleep with empty stomach in the country", claimed spokesman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) Amarnath Agarwal.
Coming down heavily on the question raised by the Opposition Parties over Food Security Bill here on Thursday evening, Amarnath said that instead of creating hurdles in getting the Bill passed in both the Houses of the Parliament, the Opposition parties should come out with suggestion that how the Bill could be implemented more effectively so that it benefits could be passed successfully to the poorest of the poor. Rs Rs Welfare scheme meant for poor persons should be concern of all the political parties so instead of opposing the Food Security Bill, Opposition Parties should come out with suggestions that how it could be implemented more affectively", he advised.
Hailing the efforts shown by prime minister Manmohan Singh as well as UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi and Congress youth scion Rahul Gandhi for going ahead with implementation of the above Bill irrespective of the strong opposition by other political groups, Amarnath said that beside giving free food grains to the poor, the Bill will also help in improving the Public Distribution System (PDS) through computerization. He said that PDS is a back bone of forwarding food grains and other items to the down trodden section of the society and it also helps the farmers to get good price of his crop through direct procurement so the Food Bill will also benefit the farmers.
Amarnath further claimed that UPA government is always concern for the welfare of poor and down trodden section of the society and schemes like Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MANAREGA), loan Waiver Scheme for farmers, National Rural Health Mission (NRHM), Jawahar lal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM), Rajeev Gandhi Rural Electrification Scheme, pradhan mantra gramin sadak yojna and many more are glaring examples of it. He said that the Opposition Parties should support it instead of making politics over it otherwise the public will teach them lesson in the next Parliament elections.
