Cong shows concern for poor during polls only: Modi

Hitting out at Congress for fooling people Bharatiya Janata Party’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi said that UPA Government has played fool with people all 10 years and now when elections were round the cornor it was talking about poor.

"The Congress leaders feel every day is fool’s day. Therefore they played with the sentiments and pockets of people for the last 10 years and now when elections are round all of a sudden it has started talking about poor. It is saying Congress can remove poverty from India. If that’s so why it failed to improve lifestyle of poor in last 10 years," he said while addressing a rally in Bareilly on Tuesday.

He even compared Bareilly with Rae Bareilly - the parliamentary constituency of UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi. It is a fact that development in Bareilly is much more as compared to Rae Bareli, he said.

"People talk about Rae Bareli but they forget Bareilly. Rae Bareli has elected such strong leaders but see development there. Roads are in bad shape. Farmers are craving for water and the elected representative there is just a tourist in that constituency.  In comparison to it Santosh Gangwar, the present BJP candidate has done wonderful work here," he said.

He also asked the people of Bareilly how their lives changed in the past 10 years and blamed the UPA government for the miseries of the people. "The UPA government is solely to be blamed for the miseries of the people as during the past 10 years problems of the common people have increased," he said.

Modi also blamed the UPA government over lack of spirit of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan." It is unfortunate that soldiers are getting killed by terrorists and government is doing nothing," he said.

Hitting on the dismal condition of the local kite industry, Modi said: "We have taken Gujarat's kite industry to Rs.500 crore and this has helped the poor particularly the Muslims who are involved in the industry.

Reminding people of Sadhna’s hit song "Jhoomka Gira re" in Sunil Dutt starrer movie "Mera Saya", Modi said: Ab Bareilly mein jhoomka nahi SaBaKa (Sapa, Baspa and Congress) girega".

He also sought apology from the people for being late and disclosed that he was made to sit at Delhi airport for more than 2.30 hours as his chopper was not given permission to take off.
