State police has been once again caught napping which ultimately facilitated the Congress to stage one of the most successful demonstration in the recent past. The protest also pointed towards failure of local intelligence agencies in making assessment of the turn-out.
However, what shocked everyone and embarrassed the members of fairer sex is that not a single lady cop has been deployed at the venue forcing the males to caught hold of Mahila Congress workers and even former state president Rita Bahuguna Joshi, MP Anu Tandon who were forcibly huddled by them in police jeep while making their arrests. Even when Congress state president Nirmal Khatri make announcement much in advance that the Party would make
a historic ghearo of Vidhan Bhawan after collecting at lakshman Mela Ground, the sleuths of the local Intelligence Unit (lIU) seems to kept napping particularly to asses the number of workers who would join the agitation on Thursday.
Not only the intelligence unit, but sources said that senior officers too took the Call very lightly as they found hardly any response to such agitation of Congress which is out of power now almost for 25-years. In wake of the above, not only few cops were deployed around Vidhan Bhawan to manage the protesters but administration also paved the way for Congress leaders to freely take out procession and reached the spot to carry on their demonstration.
Had administration made proper arrangements and blocked the Congress somewhere near lakshman Mela Ground then at least the common man had not to suffer as the demonstration resulted into massive traffic blockade and had also created trouble for many commuters who missed their trains.
Surprisingly, even when the administration witnessed a record turn-out at lakshman Mela Ground and that they were marching towards Vidhan Bhawan, no more force has been summoned to stop them. The callousness approach of the cops facilitated Congress leaders to freely marched and reached just near CM’s secretariat before being stopped through barricades in front of Prathibha Theatre. luckily, the Congress workers not retaliated to lathi charge by the
police otherwise the things would go out of control as the protesters outnumbered the force deployed to tackle them. Not only this, the cops were not even supported by water cannons, tear gas shells, chilli bombs, rubber bullets, Vajra Vahan etc to tackle any adverse conditions.
Interestingly, even the senior Congress leaders were allowed to sit of dharna at the same spot for over an hour just as the cops were having no vehicles to arrest them. later after chaos and massive blockade for over two hours, the cops finally arranged a police jeep on which senior leaders were shifted to Reserve Police lines while four buses carried the workers who too were taken in custody.
