The Congress reacted sharply to NaMo's Shanknad rally in Kanpur saying that Rs 50 crore had spent on his rally. The party questioned the hollow claims of development in Gujarat and said there had been a large number of deaths due to malnutrition in the state.
Senior Congress leader and MlA Akhilesh Pratap Singh questioned the huge amount spent on the rallies to be addressed by the Gujarat Chief Minister and BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi.
UPCC spokesman Amarnath Agarwal strongly refuted Modi's barbs directed towards Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. It is wrong to say that Rahul had been born with a silver spoon as he has actively taken up the problems of the farmers. Rahul had undertaken a 108 kilometre long padyatra for the farmers of Bhatta Parsaul. Moreover he had also taken up the cause of the agitating farmers in Jhansi. Agarwal said Rahul's always took up the cause of the poor and downtrodden and did not hesitate in having food and spent a night in the homes of dalits.
