Spearheading a campaign against the three agriculture laws, UP Congress leaders on Sunday gheraoed the Bharatiya Janata Party legislators and parliamentarians in several districts across the state.
Where the BJP legislators were not available at their residences, the Congress leaders pasted a memorandum on the gates.
In several districts, the Congress leaders were detained and put under house arrest when they were going to meet the BJP legislators.
The Congress approached the BJP legislators in Gorakhpur, Shamli, Kaushambi and Basti. In Sonbhadra district, the Congress leaders were detained and put under house arrest while in Prayagraj district, they were arrested.
The Congress workers staged a demonstration opposite the residence of the BJP MLA in Etawah and raised slogans denouncing the three legislations.
Police had to use a mild force in Ayodhya district where the Congress workers tried to mob the BJP MLAs.
