Cong demands white paper on Muzaffarnagar riots

Congress Party demanded white paper on government’s role in Muzaffarnagar violence and alleged that now even the enquiry conducted under the chairmanship of minister Akhilesh Yadav’s uncle also pointed out that Samajwadi Party’s government is responsible for the worst ever riots.

The enquiry made by Sadbhavna Samiti headed by PWD minister Shivpal Yadav pointed that Muzaffarnagar riots took place just due to appeasement of a particular community as well as negligence on part of Akhilesh Yadav’s government", pointed spokesman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), Amarnath Agarwal while demanding the government to issue a white paper on the issue.

Agarwal said that probe by the committee pointed that how the trouble makers were given a free hand, how the accused were released from police station at behest of a cabinet minister, how officers were removed just as they act against diktats of the said minister etc. He alleged that even later on, the government failed to give justice to the victims.

UPCC spokesman further said that the report also mentioned contrary facts to which the government should clarify. On one hand the report said that the refugees who took shelter in relief camps were not ready to return to their home as they fear threat to their lives but on the hand same report said that some persons running the camps in madarsas were not ready to close it just as they were making profits out of huge grant sanctioned by the government to run the camps", cited Agarwal adding that the report should be made clear whether the people were having any fear or they were not allowed to return due to some other reasons.

He said that the report only showed that the government so far even failed whether the relief given in these camps were justified or not. Agarwal demanded  that government should punish the officers responsible for the above confusion and ensure that all refugees should reach back their home as earliest.
