Cong demands strict action against circle officer

Published on:

Congress demanded stern action against circle officer of Rampur city, who at behest of cabinet minister, Azam Khan, had ransacked the office of local Congress leader, Faisal Khan lalla, in Rampur and had threatened him with dire consequences. Party demanded that a criminal case should be registered against the police officer as well as Azam Khan and legal proceedings should be made besides suspending the guilty cops.

Faisal Khan, who is facing life threat from Azam Khan as well as from the said deputy SP, had already handed over a memorandum in this regard to Governor, Ram Naik, asking him to intervene and ensure his security otherwise the SP leader would get him eliminated. Chief spokesman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee, Virendra Madan, while confirming of the above here on Friday afternoon, said that the Party not just condemned such unlawful move by a police officer that too at behest of a cabinet minister but also demanded that a case must be registered against the said officer along with Azam Khan, and legal proceedings should be initiated against the duo, along with others found involved in arson at Faisal Khan’s office in Rampur on late Thursday night. Madan, said that several dozen cops led by circle officer of Rampur City, not just barged inside the office of Faisal Khan, but assaulted the employees, ransacked the belongings and left the scene only after threatening everyone with their life if they continued their attack on Azam Khan.

Madan said that just due to Azam Khan, against whom Faisal Khan raised his voice against excesses of the cabinet minister, the local administration is not just harassing the Congress leader but had also registered several fake cases against him just to terrorise and silent his voice against Azam Khan. He said that in November last year, an attempt was made on Faisal Khan’s life at behest of Azam Khan, but the local police not registered any case so Faisal knocked the door of the local court and only after chief judicial magistrate’s order, local police registered a case on January 20, earlier this year.

Madan claimed that in that case, Faisal Khan recorded his statement in the CJM court on last Wednesday. Agitated with Faisal’s move to give statement against police officers and Khan, the circle officer led the attack at Faisal’s office, Madan added demanding stern action against the guilty and also to provide security cover to the Congress leader.

Interestingly, Congress also claimed that they lost trust in the present set-up of law enforcing agencies so the Governor, Ram Naik should intervene to ensure safety of Faisal. RsRsThe probe by Crime Branch, Crime Investigation Department (CB CID) already pointed that how the present director general of police, AK Jain (than posted as IG lucknow Zone), had facilitated arson in the house of than state president of Congress Rita Bahuguna Joshi’s house”, pointed another spokesman of the UPCC, Amarnath Agarwal. RsRsWhen same AK Jain has been now was posted as police chief of the State and a number two minister in Akhilesh Yadav’s cabinet, is leading attack at Faisal’s house, so anyone would easily guess whether Jain would initiate legal action against the culprits and the minister, or instead facilitate the trouble makers further to help Azam in settling score with Faisal”, he added.
