Cong demands probe for Varanasi incident

Published on:

Accusing ruling Samajwadi Party and the Bharatiya Janta Party of having a secret pact, particularly on the matters related to communal disturbance, Congress demanded judicial probe by sitting high court judge into violence in Varanasi on last Monday.

The Party while condemning arrest of Party MlA Ajai Rai, had also demanded to provide adequate security to the leader as he was shifted to Fatehgarh jail where underworld don turned politician, Mokhtar Ansari, also a sitting MlA was lodged. Congress suspended threat to Rai’s life as he was lone surviving witness against Ansari.

RsRsWe are saying from the very beginning that leaders of both Samajwadi Party and Bharatiya Janta Party are having a secret pact to disturb communal harmony and make political gain out of it”, charged chairman of the Media Committee of the Uttar Pradesh Congress, Satyadeo Tripathi, while reacting on State government’s move to arrest their MlA Ajai Rai in connection with Monday’sviolence. RsRsSeveral BJP MlAs, Vishwa Hindu Parishad and Hindu Yuva Vahini leaders, which included Shyamdeorai Chaudhary, Ravindra Singh, Jyotsana Srivastava and Sadhvi Prachi etc where present at the spot  but why just Congress MlA was named”, questioned Tripathi while accusing that it clearly pointed that both SP and BJP had understanding and tried to blame Congress. He accused both Parties for creating communal disturbance as it suited their vote-band politics, Tripathi charged.

He said that not just in Varanasi but there are several other occasions when nexus between SP and BJP came to the fore. RsRsState government first withdraw case against BJP MP from Philibhit, Varun Gandhi, who not just violated the model code of conduct but was involved in hate speech, which had disturbed the communal harmony but later the SP government also withdraw case against union minister Kalraj Mishra”, pointed Tripathi while accusing the SP government for just cheating the people of taking strong measures to check that no one could disturb communal harmony.

RsRsNot just in the Varun and Mishra’s case, but people had still not forgot that how some senior BJP leaders, who even won last Parliament elections had created communal disturbance leading to worst ever communal riot in the Western Uttar Pradesh, in which besides several deaths, thousands of families were rendered homeless”, further asserted Tripathi while adding that State government had always adopted very soft approach against the BJP leaders and facilitated them to go scot free.

Tripathi said that in the recent lynching of youth in Dadari, several central ministers including Sangeet Som had made hate speeches but the SP government not initiated any action against them. Demanding a judicial probe by sitting high-court judge, Tripathi said that the footage of close-circuit television as well that captured by print and electronic media in violence at Varanasi all pointed that that it was activists of Hindu Yuva Vahini, VHP and BJP leaders along with the local police who were indulged in violence and arson but the cops only booked innocent Congress leaders or other local youths.
