Accusing state government for making no change in excise policy just to facilitate one big business house, state Congress asked to issue white paper on the reason behind it. The party also alleged that Samajwadi Party had cheated the booz loving public by raising the price even when they came to power on assurance of making it cheaper.
``It was Akhilesh Yadav who during his public meeting at the time of election campaign for last Assembly elections claimed that Mayawati had made Sham Ki Dawa (evening medicine) of the poors costlier so if they vote him to power they would see a cut in it’s prices", cited spokesman of the Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC), Ashok Singh alleging that now chief minister had cheated those persons by raising the price of liquor.
Congress spokesman said that renewal of old license shops and order for no new license shops like decisions have been just made to favour a particular business group who also get patronage when Bahujan Samaj Party was running the government. ``The government should issue white paper that why the excise policy has been not changed", demanded Congress leader.
Meanwhile spokesman of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) Vijay Bhadhur Pathak also criticised new excise policy. ``Hike in rate of liquor would affect the poor labourers whom Akhilesh assured of providing cheaper booz", claimed Pathak adding that just one business group is making excise policy in the state in the last as well as in this government.
