Cong calls Modi a 'broker'

Published on:

Congress called Narendra Modi a ‘broker’ and questioned that what the prime minister was doing for a particular industrialist not amounts to corruption. “None other prime minister in the history of the country had taken an industrialist over seas to promote his business interest what Narendra Modi had done by carrying Adani in Australia”, alleged AICC general secretary and Rajya Sabha member B Hariprasad. “What Narendra Modi had done to ensure a mining lease for Adani in Australia and the highest loan by a nationlised bank within 24-hours to the group does not amounts to corruption”, questioned Hariprasad adding that what Modi has done is nothing but a role of a ‘broker’ for an industrialist.

Hariprasad made above attack on Modi while replying to a question on BJP’s claimed that one year tenure of Prime Minister is corruption free. State Congress president, Dr Nirmal Khatri was also present in the press conference when allegation was made on Modi. Talking to media persons here on Monday afternoon, Hariprasad alleged that ‘ Make in India’  campaign of the Narendra Modi government has just become a political slogan as the BJP government was just on ‘ flight mode’ during its one year rule in which exports have fallen by 11 per cent in the period. “The one year rule of the NDA government just turned into an insatiable quest for personal propaganda, event management and attractive slogans and the Modi government has become a catch headline government rather than catch investment government,” he said while questioning what happened about Gujarat Model, Acche Din and Sushasan promises of the BJP.

Taking a jibe on the Modi government, Hariprasad said that BJP accused Monmohan Singh for his non-speak (silence), but now over-talk of Narendra Modi proved the old time saying,”Khali bartan jada awaj karte hai, bhare bartan kam karte hai’,(Empty utensils sound more than filled one). “Since Modi had done nothing so he was trying to fool the country with his talks, but in case of Manmohan, it was former PM’s work that speaks”, he asserted while critising Modi.

The senior Congress leader from Karnataka , claimed that the Modi Government lacked the ‘economic vision’,’ fiscal direction’ and financial astuteness’ to propel India on a growth trajectory.” Even senior BJP leader Arun Shourie has clearly adjudged the government as lacking financial directions,” he claimed.  Hariprasad said that during the past one year growth in eight core industrial sectors has gone down by 3.5 per cent in which cement industry’s growth was zero.” Engineering companies witnessed zero increase in sales while real estate sector was in negative growth. In total index of industrial production grew in March last at  2.1 per cent only,’’he added. He claimed that aggregate sales for 315 big companies was reduced by  seven per cent over the year 2014 while exports fell down by 11 per cent which proves that Make in India was a total failure. The Congress leader said that all the promises like  2 crore employments a year was also not fulfilled any only over 17 lakh new jobs were generated.
