Bharatiya Janata Party state president Mahendra Nath Pandey said that the allegations of UP Congress president Raj Babbar against Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were wrong, malicious and politically motivated.
“The case which the Congress leader spoke about is an old one and even the court has exonerated Yogi. This is a 20-year-old case and raking it up now shows the malicious campaign the Congress wants to launch against the BJP,” Pandey said in a statement issued in Lucknow on Wednesday.
Earlier, Raj Babbar had told media persons that a lower court in Maharajganj has reopened a 19-year-old case in which a police head constable was killed in Maharajganj. Yogi was booked as an accused in that case, he said.
The BJP leader said that the allegation was the manifestation of the criminal mindset of the Congress brass.
“It is a fact that the BJP government is working for the welfare of the masses and the Congress has not been able to digest this. Hence, it is levelling false allegations against the Chief Minister,” he said.
Meanwhile, Pandey asked the BJP workers to strengthen the party at booth level and work with the mission of ‘Mera booth sabse majboot’. He urged them to tell the people about the achievements of the Yogi Adityanath and Narendra Modi governments.
