Cong, BJP spar  over law and order in UP

The war of words between the Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party over deterioration in law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh continued on Wednesday with Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra charging the Yogi Adityanath regime with failing to check crime.

She even blamed the government of trying to misguide people through “statistics”.

Picking on the sensational escape of a dreaded west UP ganglord whose aides fired at a police party in daylight in Muzaffarnagar and got their kingpin released, Priyanka held Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led BJP regime responsible for the fiasco.

In a tweet on Wednesday, Priyanka posted in Hindi, “Haath kangan ko arsi kya, padhe likhe ko Farsi kya” (If something is happening in front of you, then it is useless to ask for evidence/proof of the incident).

Priyanka further tweeted, “People of the state are asking the government why crime is rising to such an alarming extent”. The Congress leader also alleged that the BJP government was producing incorrect statistics figures.

Replying to an earlier tweet of Priyanka over law and order, DGP OP Singh claimed drop in crimes in the state. “Crime has been tamed in UP. The people of the state have rejected those who were doing negative politics,” BJP MP from Allahabad Rita Bahuguna Joshi said while reacting to Priyanka’s continued attack on the government for its failure in controlling crime.
