With the aim of boosting the immunity of pregnant women and protecting children from 12 deadly diseases, the Yogi government kicked off the second phase of the ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0’ campaign on Monday.
Under the campaign, vaccination of pregnant women and children will take place in urban and rural areas of all the districts of the state. In the past years, there has been continuous improvement in the level of health facilities and vaccination in the state.
Appealing to all the departments, NGOs, intellectuals, religious leaders and parents to make the ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0’ campaign a success, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanth emphasised the necessity of putting in an extra effort to achieve 100 per cent immunisation coverage for children.
The ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0’ campaign is being run in three phases. The first phase was held from August 7 to 12. The second phase kicked off on September 11 while the third phase will be launched on October 9.
Through this campaign, pregnant women and children up to five years of age will be protected against 12 different life-threatening diseases such as tuberculosis, mumps, tetanus, whooping cough, influenza, hepatitis B, measles, rubella, meningitis (Japanese encephalitis), pneumonia, polio and rotavirus.
A target has been set to provide complete immunisation against virus-causing diarrhoea. Every child must be given all doses of all vaccines at the right time. Considering the target of eradicating serious diseases like measles and rubella by December 2023, the chief minister has directed the officials to complete the vaccination in mission mode.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has called for wholehearted cooperation for the successful implementation of the mission, an initiative led by the Health department, aiming to enhance the well-being of children and pregnant women. Additionally, he has urged public representatives to give it the form of a people’s movement through their active participation in the campaign.
Furthermore, he appealed to government departments, government and non-government organisations, voluntary organisations, intellectuals, religious leaders and youth to motivate parents and guardians to complete vaccination.
He further said that with everyone’s cooperation the benefits of ‘Intensified Mission Indradhanush 5.0’ could be extended to the target group. Every child in the state would be protected from deadly diseases through immunisation.”
