Communal tension flared up in Balia after a 35-year-old dalit woman was battered to death in Bimapura area on Monday evening, for opposing her neighbour for teasing her young daughter. Senior officers rushed to the spot backed by a heavy force and a close vigil was being maintained to avert any violent clash.
As per reports, the minor daughter of Pushpa at Bimapura locality of Ballia, had been complaining about lewd advances made by their neighbour Taiyab aka Teni. Ignoring the compaliants fro over a month, Pushpa decided to complain to the parents of the youth on Monday evening. This did not go down well with Teni who contrionted Pushpa. After a brief exchange of words, he brutally battered her with a rod to death.
Some locals rushed to rescue the victim and shifted her to a nearby hospital where the doctors pronounced Pushpa dead upon arrival. The news of her death spread and within no time members of one community started converging at the scene. They were incensed as the youth belonged to another community and was involved in anti-social activities.
luckily before the two communities came to a head, the local police rushed in and somehow defused the situation assuring stern action against the accused.
later they raided several places before managing to arrest Teni. The body of the victim was later sent for autopsy and investigations were on.
Meanwhile in Meerut, the bullet-riddled body of an unidentified girl was found in Daurala area on Monday. SSP (Meerut) Dinesh Chandra Dubey said, "A 19-year-old girl was found dead with bullet marks on her chest and on her forehead in a field near a highway at Daurala on Monday evening."
The officer said that no identity proof or blood spots were found from the spot suggesting that the body was dumped there after the alleged murder.
They also did not not rule out sexual assault before teh murder of t he victim. The body was sent for autopsy and efforts were being made to identity her.
In Bhadohi, the nephew of a Samajwadi Party (SP) legislator was arrested on charges of molesting a girl, along with his friends in a market in Bhadohi last Friday.
Shadab Beg, the nephew of MlA Zahid Beg, was arrested by the police after the local residents staged a huge protest demanding action against the accused on Monday evening.
On Friuday last, while the girl was returning home on her scooty, Shadab and his aides stopped her in a market, beat her up and tore her clothes. An FIR was registered against Shadab under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman) of IPC at Bhadohi police station but the police chose to keep quiet. later locals staged a huge protest forcing the district officials to take action.
