The state government on Thursday instituted two committees for implementation of Sugar Industry Cogeneration and Distilleries Encouragement Policy-2013.
The principal secretary (Sugar Industry), Rahul Bhatnagar said, the chief secretary will head the main committee having the secretaries of cane and sugar department as members. This committee will look after regular monitoring and proper implementation of the policy.
Another committee headed by the cane commissioner is authorised to take applications for registration from companies seeking benefits of the policy. Following examination and verification of applications this committee will forward its recommendations to state administration.
The financial intricacy of the megar project still remains to to be resolved as it was not yet decided how to arrange the required funds. "Whether it will be DMRC model or the Public Private Partnership of the Hyderabad model" Usmani said adding that a report on the issue has been sought from the concerned committee withing 15 days. It is noteworthy that the Hyderabad was the only city which has metro rail based on PPP model and for some reasons the state government was not very enthusiastic to adopt it for the proposed metro rail in the state capital.
However the most vital question was remained unanswered by the state government refused to set any time frame for the realisation of the mega project. "It is a very huge project and keeping all the practical aspect of it, no dead line for the completion of the project can be set up at the moment" he said adding that after a fortnight the next meeting will be held which will make further headway towards the ambitious project.
