In another attempt towards shaping the future of primary education and working towards the holistic development of primary schools, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in his second term, will launch the School Chalo Abhiyan across the state from Shravasti district on April 4.

The chief minister, in a meeting with the higher officials on Thursday, issued directions to focus more on districts with low literacy rates. He said the primary schools in the state should be equipped with better facilities.

“From April 4, the School Chalo Abhiyan would begin from Shravasti, the district with the lowest literacy rate. In this regard, the department should complete all the preparations in time. All the teachers should go on a door-to-door visit and meet the parents and motivate children to come to school,” Yogi Adityanath said.

The chief minister further instructed the officials that along with all the public representatives who would be associated with the campaign, members of the legislative assembly (MLAs) must also adopt one school each. In addition to this, the officials should also adopt schools for their holistic development, he added.

The chief minister directed the officials to pay special attention to the districts with low literacy rate and run an extensive campaign in schools there.

School Chalo Abhiyan is being started from Shravasti, where literacy rate is the lowest in the state followed by Bahraich, Balrampur, Budaun and Rampur, he said.

Yogi Adityanath further instructed officials to transform all the schools of the Basic Education Council under Operation Kayakalp. He said that every primary school in the state must be equipped with all basic facilities.

“For this, private institutions, alumni of the schools should be contacted. CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) should be also approached for the transformation of schools,” he added.

Arrangements for drinking water, toilets, smart classes and furniture should be ensured in every school of the Basic Education Council. Along with this, there should be arrangements for uniforms, shoes and socks, he added.

The chief minister asked the officers to run a time-bound campaign for the posting of teachers in every school of the Basic Education Council.
