After handing over promotion letters to 5,042 Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) constables at a function in Lucknow on Friday, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath exhorted them to be motivated and alert to face exigencies.
The promotion was part of a Diwali bonanza extended by the state government to PAC personnel and also to officers of Provincial Police Services (PPS) cadre.
An order in this regard was issued by the CM’s Office on Thursday evening.
Addressing the PAC personnel, Yogi Adityanath said, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all PAC men for their promotion. I hope that together we can work for the betterment of the state and its people.”
The chief minister further said, “The PAC forms the backbone of UP Police and the announcement made by the government during Diwali will not only boost their morale but also motivate them to do their duties sincerely. To keep the personnel motivated and on the alert, it is important to take care of their needs.”
Besides the chief minister, Additional Chief Secretary (Home) Awanish Awasthi, Additional Chief Secretary (Information) Navneet Sehgal, DGP HC Awasthi and other senior officials of the Home and Police departments were present at the function.
Last week, the chief minister had restored the promotion of 896 PAC jawans, earlier demoted after an order of UP Police Establishment Board.
ADG (PAC) Binod Kumar Singh said that as per the order, 5,042 personnel were promoted from the rank of constable to head constable and 717 head constables were promoted to the rank of platoon commander.
