Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ordered lodging of FIRs against officials found guilty of mis-appropriating government funds during the tenure of a former Executive Engineer of Jal Nigam and asked officials to send reports of their property so that process could be initiated to confiscate the same.

The action was taken during a review meeting of development schemes held at Vikas Bhawan of Pratapgarh on Monday.

Sources said that the CM was visibly unhappy over the implementation of various schemes.

“When CM was told that the Jal Nigam project was still pending but the funds had been utilised, he got angry and sought explanation from Jal Nigam officials. When he was told that the aforesaid officer had retired, the CM ordered that FIRs should be lodged against the guilty officials and process should be initiated to confiscate their properties,” a senior official told.

He added that the CM in a terse message clarified that development schemes should be implemented in a transparent manner. The CM stressed on the proper utilisation of funds so that benefits should reach bona fide beneficiaries.

In his over four hour long meeting he asked officials to improve law and order situation. Stay away from fudging figures. I want people should say that there is improvement in law and order, he said.

Sources said the Chief Minister also enquired about operation of wheat purchase centres, clearance of cane dues, availability of books, shoes and bags for students of state-run schools and the pace of construction of houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana. He also enquired about the number of BPl families who had got the electricity connection free under Subhagya Yojana.

He asked DM to pay Rs 5000 immediately to a needy person for immediate treatment.

The CM said that budgetary allocations had been made for different schemes and officials should start spending money as prescribed in the rule book. Sources added the CM was not happy at the pace of the work. When he asked about the state of roads and how many kilometres of roads was repaired in the last six months, the officials failed to come up with a reply.

At one point of time, he even said that officials, it seemed, had not done their home work well. The meeting lasted for an hour as the CM asked for progress of the schemes and talked in detail about them.

The Chief Minister reached police lines in Pratapgarh at 12 noon. The officials and leaders welcomed him but Samajwadi Party workers showed black flags. They raised slogan “Yogi go back”. They were pushed back by the police.

Even BJP workers had a torrid time at PWD guesthouse where they jostled with each other to meet Yogi.  When they were denied entry, they raised slogans against the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police.
