Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath caught officials by surprise when he carried out inspections of Mandis in Shahajahanpur and lakhimpur Khiri on Sunday and asked officials to make payment to farmers in a transparent manner. He also asked officials to arrange for gunny bags so that farmers should not face any problem.

“I found some complaints in the working of agency. I have asked District Magistrate of Shahajahanpur to carry out a probe and send the report to me by Monday,” Yogi told reporters in Shahajahanpur after inspecting wheat mandi in Roza.

He said officials have been asked to clear the payment within three days. All the mandis should have proper sitting arrangements for the farmers and these should have drinking water facilities. The District officials should ensure this, he said.

Chief Minister along with officials inspected wheat and cane purchase mandis in Roza. The inspection was so sudden that officials came to know about CM’s visit only at 11 am. He reached Shahajahnpur at 1.15 pm and left at 3.15 pm.

In the wheat purchase centres he inspected two registers and found anamolies in the entries. He asked the District Magistrate Amrit Tripathi to carry out a detailed probe and send the report to the government.

He also interacted with a farmer Chotte lal and when he told farmer that middle men are calling the shot he asked the District Magistrate to probe this too. “This government is committed to the welfare of farmers. We have announced MSP of wheat and farmers should get that price. If middlemen are active this is a failure of the administration,” Yogi said.

He also inspected the weigh machine in cane purchase centre in lakshmanpur Cane purchase centre. He inspected the weight of a truck and found the machine was working. To further verify the weight he ordered dismounting of truck and asked the weigh clerk to 200 kg weight but it should 180 kg.

“This is not correct. There is something wrong,” he said. .

However, farmers complained that they were not allowed to meet the CM. They said officials only introduced those farmers to CM who are close to them or are BJP workers.

later he left for Khiri and visited wheat purchase centres. His attention was drawn towards paucity of gunny bags and he asked the officials to provide bags.

Meanwhile, CM will visit Pratapgarh and will have a night halt at Kandhai Madhunpur village, in Patti tehsil on April 23, government spokesman said.
