Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav dispatched a letter to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, urging him to include the issues related to development and welfare of people of Uttar Pradesh, in the proposed 2016-17 annual budget and made necessary allocations.

In a letter send on Saturday, chief minister reminded of pending compensation for the farmers whose crop were damaged due to incessant rains and hail-storm, AIIMS in Gorakhpur, Purvanchal Samajwadi Express-way, Kanpur and Varanasi Metro Rails, and International Airports at Zevar and Hiran Gaon (Ferojabad). Yadav demanded that provisions should be made for the above projects in the Central Budget along with proper fund for development of Bundelkhand and Purvanchal.

Yadav claimed that state government had decided to construct Purvanchal Samajwadi Express-way, and had also allocated some funds for the purpose but at the same time, they also requested to the Centre to make some contribution from there side so that the project could be completed. He said to have requested Jaitely to make allocation of Central share for completion of the project in this budget.

Akhilesh Yadav said that in wake of backwardness of Bundelkhand and Purvanchal region, his government already made budgetary provisions for the development of the two areas, hence he made similar request to Central Government to provide special package for the two regions so that development of the areas could be taken on priority. Yadav reminded that the demand of AIIMS in Gorakhpur has been now made since a long time but no financial allocations have been made so far so he also wrote to Jaitely to make the same in this budget. lastly Akhilesh Yadav demanded funds for construction on international airports in Hiran Gaon at Ferojabad and Zevar besides Metro Rail in Kanpur and Varanasi.
