With the aim to monitor implementation of development schemes, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will start inspection of villages from next week to get first hand information about developmental works and public welfare programmes.

Giving this information, a state government spokesman said disclosed on Wednesday that Yadav has also directed nodal officers to go to districts and apprise Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan of the ground realities.

The Chief Secretary has issued directives to principal secretaries of departments concerned, nodal officers, divisional commissioners and district magistrates to make necessary arrangements for the visit of the Chief Minister.

These officials have also been asked to inspect and submit a detailed report to the Chief Secretary’s office giving therein the problems officials are facing at the ground level.

The nodal officers have also been asked to give suggestions, if any.The spokesman said that during the inspections, the Chief Minister would see how projects were being implemented. He would review village roads, sewer system, availability of drinking water and state of schools and primary health centres in the villages.

Similar exercise was carried out in June when the Chief Minister made surprise inspections and was shocked to see that even district officials did not know about government schemes. Thereafter, nodal officers were appointed to review implementation of government schemes.
