UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has urged the prime minister narendra Modi for ensuring remunerative price to the farmers of their agriculture produce. The CM in a letter to the prime minister has also requested that the Minimum support price (MSP) for the Kharif crop of 2015 and Rabi crop of 2015-16 be fixed as per the recommendations made by the national farmer’s commission’s ands the suggestions given by the UP government.

CM said there was wide difference between the MSP announced by the Center and the suggestions given by the UP government. He said the MSP announced by the Center for the Kharif crop is fart too low and against the recommendations by the National farmer’s commission. CM said if the farmers will face economic crisis if they are denied remunerative price for their agriculture produce.

The price advisory board of the UP government in April had recommended prices for Kharif crop of the current year and Rabi crop of 2015-16. For the Kharif the minimum price for Paddy crop was Rs 2,330 per qt and maximum Rs 3,770 for the Basmati rice while the price for the wheat crop of 2015-16 was recommended at Rs 2590 per qt.The Center has announced the MSP for paddy at Rs 920 per qt.

The RsPrice advisory board’ for determining the price of the agriculture commodities was set up by the SP government this year.  The board is headed by the agriculture minister and the minister of cooperative department, two MPs and vice chancellors of the four agriculture universities are the members of the board.. CM in his letter demanded from the Center to revise the MSP and increase it as suggested by the UP government. The hike in MSP would not only ensure remunerative price to the farmers it would also strengthen the food security, CM added.
