Charting out his government’s priority Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that he would work in the farm sector in the remaining two years of his tenure and would speed up development work so that people’s aspirations could be fulfilled. “Next two years are crucial for us. The only agenda I have now is to work for the farmers. I will look at the avenue to increase rural economy. I am working on many projects including organic faming. I will have to fine tune the blue prints of this project,” Yadav told a select group of reporters at 5, Kalidas Marg, his official residence on Sunday.

Akhilesh Yadav completed three years of his tenure on Sunday and laid foundation of Bhadohi Carpet Export Mart and also launched modern kitchen facilities for mid-day meal organized by Akshay Patra. Akhilesh said last three years have been very challenging for his government. “We had worked to improve infrastructure facilities in the urban areas. Roads are coming up all across the state. Power generation is being improved.

“In the remaining two years my government will focus on farm sector. We have declared this year as Kisan Varsh (farmers’ year). We will look into all the avenues to improve financial health of farmers. We will focus on dairy sector. If need be my government might announce incentives for farmers to producing record milk,” he said. “The priority of my government is to increase production of cow’s milk. If suppose Parag starts distributing cow’s milk it would bring a revolution in the market,” he said.

When asked whether state government would seek centre’s help in this regard he answered in affirmative and said his government is working in this regard. Confident looking Yadav said that his Government has started resolving power blues. “We have set up solar power plants in some villages. Just enquire from villages – do they have any complaint. No, they have none,” he said.

Earlier, he laid the foundation of Bhadoi Export Mart where he said that no new project or schemes would be announced till the old promises are fulfilled. 'We are committed to complete all the pending projects and schemes in the next two years of our term and hence no new projects would be taken up', he said. The Chief Minister said that the Samajwadi Party government has fulfilled all its poll promises made in 2012 election within one year of coming to power and now it will complete all the remaining projects in next two years.

Yadav said that the Bhadoi carpet export mart will promote the weavers of the region and announced that a similar weavers’ hub will be developed in Noida and Ghaziabad. “This is really shameful that a region which produces world class carpet does not have quality roads. People often complained about roads connecting Varanasi with Bhadohi. I asked officials about the volume of business this area gives. And then I decided to connect Bhadoi with Varanasi with four-land road,” CM said.

He also said that Bhadoi and Mirzapur will have a RCC road. UP's small industry and export promotion minister Bhagwat Saran Gangwar demanded that an export hub should be set up in lucknow. “UP’s products are sold in Mumbai and Delhi because we do not have export here. Thus, these cities gain at the expense of Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan said that UP's carpets are famous in Western countries. This is exported to France, Sweden, Germany, Finland, Sweden, England and other European countries. Total business is of the volume of over Rs 5000 crore,” he said. He said that the government will spend Rs 150 crore to set up the Bhadoi carpet export mart which will benefit the local weavers.
