CM to visit Harvard to discuss Allahabad Mahakumbh

Published on:

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav will leave for Harvard, first official foreign visit, on April 23 to share his views about successful planning of Allahabad' Mahakumbh', the biggest religious fair of the world.

The oldest American private Ivy league research the university in United States, has invited Yadav along with other senior UP officials who had conducted the successful Mahakumbh where over 200 million pilgrims had taken a dip in Sangam during the 55-days-long fair.

Mahakumbh takes place at the banks of Sangam, the confluence of holy river Ganga, Yamuna and mythical Saraswati in Allahabad, every twelve year. This year it was held from January 15 to March 10 and had evoked great response from the spritual, religious and academic fraternity from across the world with crores of devotees including foreign tourists having visited the fair.

Overawed by the fact Mahakumbh being the only event to have such large congregation and that too generally incident-free, the Harvard University had wanted Yadav to share his government's planning acumen to organise it.

Yadav will leave for US along with his team of officers who were involved in the planning of the fair which, in fact, had started two years in advance. How a temporary city is erected in such a short time and accommodate such a

huge number of devotees at a place spread over about 64 sq kms,is something the western world is keen to know about, an official spokesman told reporters here on Sunday.

According to the spokesman, the Chief Minister is also excited to tell the world about the successful conduct of Mahakumbh, an achievement on the part of his government. A comprehensive presentation will be made at Harvard before the academicians there to learn the finer details of management and planning.
