Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s dream project lucknow-Agra Expressway will be inaugurated with much fanfare on Monday with eight fighter jets making a touch down at the identified strip near Unnao.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party Patriarch Mulayam Singh will attend the function along with other senior ministers of the Akhilesh cabinet.
On that very day Chief Minister will launch a coffee Table book entitled `Making of History – the longest Expressway’ produced by CMYK Printech ltd. Editor-in Chief of The Pioneer Chandan Mitra will present this book to Chief Minister.
Chief Minister had a dream to have an expressway that could bring west part of UP and National Capital, New Delhi with land locked eastern part closer. The Uttar Pradesh Expressway Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) was given the onerous task to complete this massive project in 22 months.
“The time was short – even Chief Minister knew it. But the officials went an extra mile to ensure that they do not fail to meet the deadline,” OSD to Chief Minister and former Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan said.
He said it is Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav’s success mantra that if you double the speed economy will treble in no time has taken shape. This high speed transportation corridor between lucknow and Agra will accelerate growth, Ranjan said.
This access controlled Expressway will pass through Agra, Firozabad, Mainpuri, Etawah, Auraiyya, Kannauj, Kanpur Nagar, Unnao, Hardoi and lucknow.
Ranjan said that this will not only encourage agriculture by providing new mandis where the farmers will be able to sell their produce at competitive rate free from middlemen but also provide industrial corridor where private entrepreneurs would be encouraged to set up food processing units, construct cold storages, warehousing and milk based industries and small handloom units.
