The Chief Minister will inaugurate a two-day agrculture fair coined `UP Agri Hortitech’ at Saifai in Etawah on March 28. The fair is being organized by the UP government in association with the PHD Chamber of Commerce. A similar agriculture fair was organised in lucknow in January and the government expects participation from companies of Israel, Holland, France and Italy in the fair.
Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC) Pravir Kumar said that the Agri Hortitech in January had drawn enthusiastic response from farmers and many Indian and foreign companies got orders from the state. He said it is a challenging task before the state government to raise farmer’s income by boosting the productivity of agriculture.
Kumar said that farmers and the entrepreneurs of agro and horticulture-based industry will get a platform to interact with their counterparts from other states. He said that the post-harvest waste in agriculture and horticulture in UP, was as high as 30 per cent and the farmers could immensely benefit by reducing waste.
