In a major relief to beneficiary of welfare schemes, Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav decided to abolish the system of submitting affidavits while availing of benefits of government schemes and taking admission in academic institutions. Sources said that the Centre is also likely to discontinue the attestation of documents by gazetted officers.
“The chief minister has abolished the system of taking affidavits for all government schemes. The decision has been taken to provide relief to the people and simplify government processes. It would be implemented with immediate effect,” a government spokesman said here on Monday.
He informed that from now on, no affidavits would be required for availing of government schemes and for taking admission in educational institutions. Instead of affidavits, self-attested certificates would do, he added. The move comes amidst reports that the Union government may drop the attestation of documents by gazetted officers.
