CM seeks permission for bridge construction

Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has written a letter to Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar seeking working permission to construct bridge over Gomti river in Pipra Ghat that would ease traffic of the city.

He said that if a bridge (160.68 meter) is constructed that would open an alternative road to go from Dilkusha to Gomti Nagar and Faizabad. This will east city traffic, he wrote in that letter.

Army has objected to construction of a bridge near Dilkusha because it claims the land on which the bridge is being constructed belongs to Cantonment Board. A meeting between officials of PWD, Bridge Corporation and Revenue department on July 4, 2015 opined that a working permission from Army would be enough for construction of bridge if state bears the cost of construction.

Yadav wrote the letter to Parikkar demanding that working permission so that the bridge could be constructed at the earliest.
