Hitting out at the state government the state unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said that Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has not fulfilled the promise of plugging the line loss and increasing the revenue of the states thus depriving people of quality power.
During his daily news briefing BJP’s State Spokesperson Vijay Bahadur Pathak said here on Tuesday that Chief Minister has blamed union government for poor condition of power supply in the state but he had not said a word for failing to keep promise to improve power supply in the state. Pathak said that the line loss in many districts is over 70 per cent. “The big question is what the state government is doing to plug this loss. If Government can bring down line loss availability of power among the masses will increase many time and this in turn will light up many villages,” he said.
Pathak said after inaugurating 500 megawatt unit in Anpara D in Sonebhadra Chief Minister had said that cost of electricity will be Rs 2.92 per unit produced in public sector. “This is quite natural that cost of electricity would be less but the big question is what the government is doing to provide cheap electricity to state. What it has allowed the private players to set up units,” he asked.
Pathak said that Government has always spread lies. It is telling people that projects under public sector are being installed. The fact is state government has signed MoU for nine schemes but work has started on only one scheme. “This shows the government is not serious in fulfilling its promises. Chief Minister talks about providing 22 hour electricity in urban areas and 16 hours in rural areas by 2016. This promise will be a farce as government has taken no steps to increase generation,” he said.
