CM questions authenticity of forensic report in Dadri lynching case

Published on:

With the Opposition breathing down the Chief Minister’s neck over a new expose’ claiming that the meat found at Dadri lynching victim Mohmmad Akhlaq’s house was beef, Akhilesh Yadav questioned the authenticity of the forensic report quizzing where did the lab get the sample from.

"Who sent the sample of meat to the Mathura lab and who received it IJ There is a question mark over the authenticity of the report," the CM said in Ambedkarnagar on Wednesday.

Yadav said that the probe is underway and it would be completed without any bias. But it is surprising as to where was the sample taken from as there was no meat in the fridge at the time of the incident.

"There was nothing objectionable found in Akhlaq's house. Everyone wants that the victim's family should get justice as the man was beaten to death," he said.

The CM's statement came after a Mathura lab said in its report that the meat found in the victim's fridge was beef. The report quoting forensic probe made it clear that the sample belonged to 'cow or its progeny'. The report sent to the Noida police was submitted to a fast-track court in a sealed cover.

The recent development has given the Opposition, particularly the BJP, a hammer to beat the SP government. BJP MP from Gorakhpur Yogi Adityanath has demanded the registration of a case of cow slaughter against Akhlaq's family and suggested that all benefits given to the family be withdrawn.

Yogi said that the state government is mum over the report. Innocent Hindus arrested in the matter should be released from jail and the police should register a case of cow slaughter against Akhlaq's family.

"I also demand that the UP government withdraw all facilities given to his (Akhlaq's) family," he told media persons in Gorakhpur on Wednesday.

State BJP president Keshav Prasad Maurya said that state government concealed facts as part of a bigger conspiracy. The government lays exposed and it should order a case of cow slaughter against Akhlaq’s family members.

However, Akhlaq's family rejected the report of the Mathura lab. "Dadri police said mutton, now this report says it is beef. This is politics," said Akhlaq's brother Jaan Mohammad.

On September 28, 2015, Akhlaq was beaten to death by a mob of 100 people angered by rumours that the family had stored and

consumed beef in Bisahra village of Dadri (Noida). later around 19 people were arrested.

UP government gave Rs 45 lakh to the family of victim and then flats in greater noida at a nominal rate of Rs 9.5 lakhs.
