Hitting out at Congress national president Rahul Gandhi Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the person, whose three generations, have never visited temples, is now offering prayers before Hindu deities which is a good sign for India.
“This is strange that people are now wearing janaue (sacred thread) and showing it to the world that they are Brahmins. In fact, these are the people who belong to a family where they feel shy claiming themselves to be caste Hindus,” Yogi said without taking the name of Rahul Gandhi.
He was speaking in a regional convocation of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) which started in the state capital on Monday.
During Gujarat elections a controversy broke out when Rahul’s name was registered in non-Hindu register when he visited Somnath temple. As the opposition questioned Rahul’s religion the Congress reacted fast and released his pictures wearing janaue during Priyanka Gandhi’s marriage.
After that Congress has opted for soft Hindu route and Rahul has started visiting temples. During his recent visit to Amethi Rahul Gandhi even went to a Hanuman temple.
Yogi said that people have started going to temples. They now feel that their ancestors have done something wrong by not visiting temples and they are now making amends.
“Temples are not just places of worship but these are also the place where India’s culture lives which revolves around nationalism. The youth is the only force which can keep the fire of nationalism aglow and for this the ABVP has played a crucial role,” Yogi said in his address.
The ABVP has played a crucial role in nation building. Whenever the country faced distress from the anti-national forces the ABVP came to the fore put forth the issues which match the ideology of the country. “When many students organization take pride in raising anti-national slogans ABVP is the only force which highlights nation’s power as it protested on the issues of swadeshi, fees hike, Kashmir and disparity in education,” he said.
He said the youth should have a positive outlook and they should move forward with determination. ABVP was formed to change Chatra shakti into national shakti. Yogi also called upon ABVP volunteers to held Government in spreading the message of good governance.
National organizational secretary Sunil Ambekar said that ABVP will oppose the institutions like JNU which are active in anti-national activities. The country is passing through a bad phase where Government in Kerala is patronizing anti-nationals. ABVP should give them a befitting reply, he said.
This convocation will continue till Wednesday.
