Throwing his government’s weight behind house buyers, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said that the BJP government was committed to redressing complaints of consumers and would take action against builders as and when required.

“The Government has received complaints about many builders taking money from people but not handing over houses as per promise. There is a loss of trust between the builders and buyers which should be restored at the earliest,” Yogi said while unveiling a website of Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regularity Authority (www.up.rera.in).

The CM said that the website will work as a bridge between consumers and builders. “The state government will act as the mediator and take action against builders as per Real Estate Regulation and Development Act (RERA). The Central government has already passed the act,” the CM said.

“Under RERA, house buyers will get protection. At the same time, the Government will try to solve problems that the builders were facing. The real estate business can flourish only if there was trust between the two. The builders should stick to their promises so that the buyers could get their houses within stipulated time,” Yogi said.

The CM said that the state government will provide favourable atmosphere for real estate business. “Poor and needy will get houses under Pradhanmantri Awas Yojana till 2022. The government is committed to building 22 lakh houses in rural areas and 2 lakh in urban areas by 2019,” he said.

Under the scheme, the Central government will give 1.5 lakh for construction of house while the state government will chip in with Rs 1 lakh. The total cost of the house is estimated to be Rs 3.34 lakh.

Yogi said that urban areas will get house in 30 square meters which will have two rooms, one kitchen and attached rest rooms. “A search for Chairman of UPRERA has begun and a full committee will be appointed soon,” the CM said.
