Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that impressed with the progress of Uttar Pradesh, many private players have started setting up units in the state which in turn will help the government to change the face of UP.

“There is holistic development in the state. The rural and urban areas have progressed equally in the last four years and this has gone down well with private investors. They are now willing to pump in money here,” Yadav said while addressing people after laying the foundation stone of a bio-mass based power project, being set up by a business house in Chaata in Mathura on Friday.

Yadav said that the government was committed to improving power scenario. “It is my promise to provide 16-20 hours power in rural areas and 22-24 hours power in urban areas by October. This SP government has fulfilled all its promises and will do the same in future too,” he said.

“This government has used all the possible options to ensure availability of quality power. We have set up thermal power plants, have entered into partnership to generate hydel electricity, have formulated policy to set up solar power plants and now we are promoting electricity generated through bio-mass,” Chief Minister said.

This bio-mass plant will generate 18 MW of electricity and will give the same to the state grid as equitable price.

Yadavs said that previously government had purchased electricity at higher rates and passed on the same to consumers at subsidized rate. The government has done this because we sincerely feel that people should get all the facilities, he said.

“We want to promote trade and business in rural areas by opening small hubs which can be done only if we have infrastructure including power. Therefore, my government promotes any one who has the potential. We have done it in the past and will do it in future too,” he said.

Chief Minister also talked about various development schemes his government had launched including the social security umbrella provided to over 55 lakh families through Samajwadi Pension scheme. Medicines and other medical facilities like pathological tests are provided free of cost to the people. Farmers are being free water and quality seeds have been made available to them.

“The government is doing its bit and the onus is now on the workers to ensure that good work by the state government reaches the beneficiaries. The party workers should also ensure that people are aware about the schemes so that they can avail the benefits,” he said.
