Hinting at a cabinet reshuffle Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said that effective changes would be brought about in the ministry as well as in administration to streamline the working of the government."The Government is committed to improve the delivery system.
For this, if required, effective changes would be brought about in the cabinet as well as in the top bureaucracy," Yadav said while addressing reporters here on Tuesday. He, however, did not tell when these changes would bebrought about. "You will come to know about this," he said.
But later in the day he went to meet Governor B.l. Joshi and had a long discussion with him. Though the Raj Bhawan sources said that it was a courtesy call,Government sources reveal that CM discussed about possibility of expansion of cabinet.A senior official told The Pioneer: "The CM wants the
changes very soon. One of the top ministers want it in Ramzan." The speculations about the cabinet reshuffle gathered momentum after a ‘family meeting’ of yadav clan that was attended by Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, his cousin Prof ram Gopal Yadav, his younger brother Shivpal Singh Yadav and Chief Minister himself. It is believed that Yadav Sr. had sought changes in the government before the lok Sabha elections.
CM did not speak about reshuffle in any further detail but talked about floods that have inundated a large swath of eastern and central parts of Uttar Pradesh. "Instructions have been given to all the districts to step up their relief and rescue operations. The floods in UP come late but this year floods in the eastern parts of the state and in lakhimpur Kheri came early in the month of June because of rains and flooding in hills. Thus, the authorities were caught napping,'' he said. The CM said that distribution of laptops to the student
would gather pace soon. He said that there was no shortage of funds and payments would be made to the company. There were reports that the HP, which has supplied laptops, has threatened to stop supply of laptops because of delay in payments.
Refusing to speak on the reservation controversy introduced by UP Public Service Commission, the CM said
that the matter was sub-judice. Earlier CM was handed over cheques worth over Rs 44
lakhs by different organisations for relief work in Uttarakhand. SP MlA from Rae Bareli Rakesh Pratap
Singh donated Rs 11.31 lakh collected from the people, SP leaders from lakhimpur Kheri donated Rs 14 lakhs, PCS Association donated Rs 5 lakhs, Motor Chalak Assocation donated Rs 1.57 lakhs and Civil Diploma Engineers Association Rs 12 lakhs. When asked whether those people who lost their lives would be paid compensation Yadav said Government was yet to get exact number of people who went missing in flash floods in Uttarakhand.''Over 2000 people of UP are still missing in Uttarakhand and our first priority will to find them alive,'' he said.
