Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, on Thursday, hailed the achievement of the Special Task Force (STF) in eliminating two hardened criminals, including mafia Atiq Ahmad’s son Asad, in an encounter in Jhansi.
The UP Chief Minister’s Office stated: "After the encounter of former MP Atiq Ahmad's son Asad and his aide, CM Yogi Adityanath took a meeting on law and order. CM Yogi praised UP STF as well as DGP, Special DG (Law and Order) and the entire team.”
“Sanjay Prasad, Principal Secretary (Home) informed the CM about the encounter. A report was placed in front of the CM on this whole matter," the CMO informed.
Meanwhile, Additional Director General of Uttar Pradesh Police's Special Task Force Amitabh Yash on Thursday said that the encounter in which gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's son Asad and his accomplice Ghulam were killed was a "huge success" for the police. He said both Asad and Ghulam were wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case.
This comes as UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath praised the state during a meeting to review the law and order following the encounter. "This was an important and challenging case. The killing of these two criminals (Asad and Ghulam) is a huge success," Amitabh Yash claimed.
Reacting to the development, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya congratulated the UP Police and the STF for the action. “Nobody will touch you if you don’t commit a crime. And nobody will be spared if they commit a crime,” he said.
Maurya said this was a Bharatiya Janata Party government and not a Samajwadi Party government that criminals would be spared.
"Congratulations to UP STF; this should be the fate of the killers of advocate Umesh Pal and police personnel of Uttar Pradesh," Maurya tweeted.
